Your hosts Ian and Vera Finger own and operate Riga Angus Stud at Nillahcootie Park. They live on the property and are able to offer the second farm house, Riga Country Retreat for you to enjoy the serenity at Nillahcootie Park.
The 3 bedroom home has recently been renovated, refurbished and decorated with the assistance of a professional interior decorator.
The property is only minutes from Mansfield on the Midland Hwy and is surrounded by large tracts of farm land . The house is surrounded by mature trees, claret ash , an old fig , crepe myrtle, hawthorn bushes as well as established hedges together with some new plantings.
Take in 360 degree views from the site. From the dining/lounge and bedrooms you look out to Mt Buller, Timbertop and Mt Stirling. From the kitchen and breakfast room there are views over expansive farm land also taking in the Strathbogie Ranges , Cotter’s Hill and the Broken River.
Wildlife may surprise you with hares and rabbits frolicking in the evening and morning mist. The occasional wombat, wallaby , deer and kangaroo may appear on the lawn. A variety of birds enjoy the native grevillea hedge and can be seen enjoying a supplement of seed in the feeder just in view from the dining room.
Horses, Angus cattle, sheep and the neighbours Hereford cattle surround the house.
Riga Country Retreat has previously inspired, artists, photographers, writers, poets and scientists, specifically paleantologists and entomologists with several publications and materials archived at the Melbourne Museum.
