Brian, Jill and Sarah Perry who founded the industry in 1987 operate Hervey Bay Whale Watch. They offer half-day whale watching cruises morning and afternoon on Quick Cat II and three patrols daily on that’s Awesome during the whale season, which runs from mid July to early November.
Quick Cat II, which was launched in 2003 and refurbished in 2007, has been accredited with Advanced Ecotourism ECO Certification. It is a non-smoking vessel.
Quick Cat II has won Fraser Coast South Burnett Tourism Awards for Excellence for the Best Whale Watch Operator, Access Tourism, Tour Operator and been entered into the Hall of Fame.
Complimentary morning and afternoon tea, of homemade muffins and danishes is served and a free activity booklet for all children. Snacks are for sale on board. Quick Cat II is also fully licensed.
That’s Awesome, a 12.5 metre naiad built in 2007 will have you with the whales in the quickest possible time. Powered by 3, 300 Suzuki outboards you will cruise at 30-40 knots.
On that’s Awesome is limited to 35, so everyone has a seat right at the whales level. It has a full size toilet.

The Dawn Patrol departs at 7am for an early morning cruise returning by 10am
The Day Patrol departs 10.30am and you are home in time for a late lunch around 1.30pm.
The Dusk Patrol is very special, departing 2.30pm till 5.30pm.
A courtesy pick-up and drop-off from accommodation around Hervey Bay is offered. Cruises depart the Great Sandy Straits Marina at the Urangan Boat Harbour in Hervey Bay.
