Conditions of Use

PARKS AND WILDLIFE COMMISSION OF THE NORTHERN TERRITORY
JATBULA TRAIL BY-LAW 8 - CAMPING OR BUSHWALKING PERMIT
This is your permit to walk the Jatbula Trail, Nitmiluk National Park (the Park). 
You will be required on check-in to present a printed copy of this permit including the names and signatures of all members of the group, and carry it with you to present to a Ranger if requested.

PLEASE NOTE you must commence hiking the trail by 09:00am due to heat and light restrictions. 
Ferries depart at 09:00am.
Please arrive at the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre - Parks Information Desk at least one hour prior to your ferry departure time to check in. All members of the group must receive a briefing prior to starting your hike.


JATBULA TRAIL CONDITIONS
1. The Applicant together with the Participants enter the Park/Reserve entirely at their own risk and the Commission and the Conservation Land Corporation ("the Corporation") accept no liability whatsoever for any loss, damage, injury of whatsoever nature to the Applicant or to any other person arising out of or in connection with the presence of the Applicant or the Participants on the Park or Reserve.
2. The Applicant must:
(a) indemnify, and keep indemnified the Corporation, the Northern Territory of Australia ("the Territory"), the Commission and its employees and agents against all claims, demands, loss or damage to property or injury to or death to any person arising as a result of or in connection with:
(i) the breach by the Applicant or the neglect or failure of the Applicant to observe or perform and fulfil any of the conditions contained herein; or
(ii) any activity of the Applicant or the Participants while on the Park;
(b) if so directed by the Commission, reimburse the Commission for any cost of search or rescue incurred by the Commission arising out of or in connection with the presence of the Applicant or the Participants on the Park;
(c) comply with and ensure that the Participants comply with all regulations or rules made by the Commission and all Statutes, By-laws and Regulations in force in the Northern Territory in respect of the Park;
(d) ensure all Participants are aware of the conditions of this Permit;
(e) take adequate equipment which must include a first aid kit, water, food and navigation materials to safely complete the proposed walk (the use of a suitable emergency communication device such as a personal locator beacon (PLB) or satellite phone is highly recommended); 
(f) ensure that nothing is left in the Park which, in the opinion of the Commission, may constitute a fire hazard, health hazard, general rubbish or a danger to persons, plants or animals;
(g) not enter any water body, river, cascade or stream with sunscreen, insect repellent or other substance upon the body as to pollute water;
(h) not wash or rinse cooking equipment and cooking utensils in creeks, water bodies, rivers or cascades as to pollute water;
(i) not camp or permit those accompanying the Applicant to camp otherwise than in the nominated camping areas;
(j) not light any fires nor permit any fires to be lit other than in portable stoves;
(k) obey all reasonable directions given by an officer of the Commission;
(l) not do nor permit to be done anything in the Park which is noisome, offensive or a nuisance or annoyance to other users of the Park;
(m) where toilet facilities are not available ensure that all faeces and paper are buried;
(n) ensure that all refuse and litter is removed from the Park by the expiration of this Permit; and
(o) carry issued Permit at all times while on the Park.
3. The issued Permit must not confer upon the Applicant or the Participants the exclusive right to possession of the whole or any part of the Park.
4. The issued Permit will be automatically revoked by the Commission if in the opinion of the Commission any of the above conditions are breached by the Applicant.
