The Islington Hotel
Islington is a new hotel, nestled, amid ancient gardens, in the dress circle of the City of Hobart. With stunning views of Mount Wellington, this luxurious exclusive enclave has but 11 rooms, each of a distinctive character.


Built in 1847, Islington is a fine example of Regency architecture recently restored to showcase its original glory and updated to include the little luxuries and amenities our forebears overlooked, such as ensuite bathrooms, a Mountain View pavilion and fine wine cellar.

The hotel has 11 bedrooms sumptuously outfitted in fabulous fabrics, antiques and deeply restful Tasmanian original king size beds that you will never wish to leave.

The rooms are large with king or twin bed options, crystal marble bathrooms that glow like jewel boxes and are furnished with imported baths, separate shower stalls and toilets, and brought together by a granite heated floor.

Downstairs the entrance opens into an expansive hallway from which extends a library, a salon and a morning room where the sun shines by day and the log fires crackle by night.

The centre piece of the hotel must be the conservatory that adjoins the country kitchen and opens out to the terrace, beyond which is the reflecting infinity pond, pavilion and towering on the background the grandeur of Mt Wellington.


Late in the afternoon enjoy a glass of Tasmanian wine whilst savouring the setting of the sun. And from here wander through the extensive gardens, populated by a landmark willow tree over 100 years old.

Signature Room

Largest room in the original part of the house with Austrian Secessionist pearwood furniture. Individually designed rooms with rich fabrics & antiques, custom made king* size bed, desk & desk chair, armchairs, marble bathroom with heated granite floor, separate shower stall and toilet, LCD screen televisions, DVD / CD players,internet broadband connection in-house movies and cable channels, tea & coffee making facilities, in-room safe,iron & ironing board, hairdryers, individually controlled air conditioning & French doors that open onto a patio.

These rates are inclusive of accommodation, full breakfast, complimentary non alcoholic mini bar and secure parking. .

Regency Rooms

Regency Rooms : Max 2 people

Rooms in the original part of the house. Individually designed rooms with rich fabrics & antiques, custom made king* size bed, desk & desk chair, armchairs, marble bathroom with heated granite floor, separate shower stall and toilet, LCD screen televisions, DVD / CD players,internet broadband connection in-house movies and cable channels, tea & coffee making facilities, in-room safe,iron & ironing board, hairdryers & individually controlled air conditioning.
