Attractions:Designed around a village square, this well preserved historic village on the Angas River is surrounded by parklands, over 150 kilometres of walking, cycling, horse riding and heritage trails and scenic drives, history, wineries, cellar doors, galleries, markets, forests, wildflowers, kangaroos and kookaburras. Golf, tennis, lawn bowls, ovals, barbeques, and playgrounds are available nearby.The town was a thriving major transport route during the 1850s gold rush and later during the Murray riverboat trade between Milang and Port Adelaide. It’s mainstreet is as wide as it took to turn a bullock team, it had it’s own brewery and it’s two taverns the “Three Brothers Arms” and the “Macclesfield Hotel” still offer excellent cuisine.
Allow time for such Battunga-Country icons as
Jupiter Creek and Chapel Hill historic goldfields where one can fossick for gold, take a torch through a 80 metre mine shaft or tour the interpreted Jupiter Creek trail through the diggings.
Picnic, walk cycle Battunga-Country recreational trails, Kuitpo Forest and Kyeema Conservation Park.
